Through It All & Everlasting Father

Through It All

You are forever in my life
You see me through the seasons
Cover me with Your hand
And lead me in Your righteousness
And I look to You
And I wait on You

I’ll sing to You Lord a hymn of love
     For Your faithfulness to me
     I’m carried in everlasting arms
     You’ll never let me go
     Through it all

Everlasting Father, I love You
Ever-living Savior, I love You

Bapa Yang Kekal

Kasih yang sempurna telah ku trima dariMu
Bukan karna kebaikanku
Hanya oleh kasih karuniaMu Kau pulihkan aku
Layakkan ku ‘tuk dapat memanggilMu "Bapa"

     Kau b’ri yang kupinta
     Saat ku mencari, ku mendapatkan
     Kuketuk pintuMu dan Kau bukakan
S’bab Kau Bapaku, Bapa yang kekal
     Takkan Kau biarkan
     Aku melangkah hanya sendirian
     Kau selalu ada bagiku
S’bab Kau Bapaku, Bapa yang kekal

                                                     ~Julita Manik~

English translation (free style):

Everlasting Father

The perfect love I have received from You
Not by my kindness
Only by Your loving grace You restored me
Enabled me to call You "Father"

     You give what I asked
     When I seek, I find
I knocked on Your door, and You opened
For You are my Father, Everlasting Father
     You won’t let me
     Take one step alone
     You’re always there for me
For You are my Father, Everlasting Father

Note: These two songs have comforted and blessed me so much, telling me that I can never be alone because God is with me.  No matter what the circumstances may be, God is always there for me.  Amen.

Notes from YABS retreat

These are some of the notes from YABS Retreat at Costa Sands Resort, Singapore (May 21-23 ’05).  Key speakers include Rev. Dr. Paul Caram, Mr. George Ottis Jr., & Ir. Djohan Handojo.

  • Everything that we do in life must count for something, or it will be a waste of time.

  • Fervent prayer must be learnt from familiarity.

  • Transformation starts with honesty.

  • Revival is predictable if we follow God’s word.

  • Definition of Redemption: Taking one which are broken, fix it, and take it back to its original purpose.

  • We’re called to change the world surrounds us, but first we need to change ourselves to follow God’s purpose.

  • Don’t think to be mediocre, but think big and be a leader.

  • Don’t be allergic to politics; but rather, pray for your
government so that they may gain God’s wisdom in governing the country.
    (Thanks for reminding me, Chy… ^-^ )
  • We reap things that we sow in the past.

  • The greatest aspect of wisdom is to obey what we have known.

  • God knows what makes us happy, our senses cannot measure happiness because our emotions are very deceptive.

  • When we die, we only carry our characters of who we are.

  • When under pressure, devastated, and under heavy load, know that God’s grace is sufficient for us.

  • Definition of meekness: holy acceptance of your circumstances without anger.

  • Fear of the Lord is the source of all wisdom; if we have no fear, then we have no wisdom.

  • God has a specific plan for everyone suitable for our own preparations.

  • God knows best where/when/how we can serve Him best – He’ll choose our inheritance for us.

  • Righteousness and holiness is a progress.

  • Men look from the outside appearance, but God look at the inside of a man.

  • Hold fast to what you have (salvation), so no one (devil) can take your crown.

  • Watch out for human love, make sure that our love of God is number one and not second to anything.

  • There’s no limit of what a person can achieve if (s)he doesn’t care who gets the credit.

  • Key to long lasting relationship: we have to grow spiritually.  Key to spiritual growth is obedience.

  • Ten keys to overcome envy & jealousy in God’s service:
    1. Pure motives / pure heart
    2. No comparing
    3. No competing
    4. Don’t think of the reward from men (rewards come from God)
    5. Esteem others better than ourselves
    6. Have your own promise from God
    7. Just because God accepts others too, it doesn’t mean God is neglecting us
    8. Appreciate the other members in the Body of Christ
    9. Everyone of us is in a different season
    10. Love others as yourselves

    I asked…

I asked God for strength that I might achieve
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey

I asked for health that I might do greater things
I was given infirmity that I might do better things

I asked for riches that I might be happy
I was given poverty that I might be wise

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life
I was given life that I might enjoy all things

I got nothing that I asked for
but everything I had hoped for

Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered
I am, among all men, most richly blessed
